CYCLADES ISLANDS
They owe their name to the circle "Kyklos " that they seem to form around DELOS, the sacred island one of the most famous religious centers of ancient Greece, an island with a 5000 years history. The cyclades islands are well known from the ancient times for their civilization the so called cycladic civilization (3000-1000 BC.). Their unique architecture, the narrow streets, the smallwhite washed houses, the charming windmills combined with the clear atmosphere and the crystal blue sea waters make them resemble miniature dreamlands.

MYCONOS & DELOS

MYKONOS: is the most famous of the cyclades islands. Famous for it's atmosphere, it's nightlife, it's windmills and the cosmopolitan feel. Here, well known members of the international jet set meet every summer with thousands of anonymous persons in the narrow streets. The "streets" are more like meandering paths through a maze. They were intentionally designed to be confusing as a form of defense against invading pirates in the old times. When the sun sets the social differences are removed. Everyone takes part in the wild feast. The nightlife is one of the main attractions that has created" the legend of Mykonos". However the island is also well known for the wonderfull beaches and the hospitable people. A small island (85 sq. km.) with 3,000 people, is one of the most photographed Greek island. Attractine places on the island are: Ano Mera, Ornos, Tourlos, Panormos, Elia, Agios Ioannis, Psarrou, Platys Gialos, and the more "liberal" ones of the Paradise and the Super Paradise beach. The main town is Mykonos town. The island became also famous thanks to the nearby ruins of the island of DELOS: This island was the most holy island because it was believed that Apollo was born here. It was the second most holy place in the ancient Greek world-second only to the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. Historically speaking it was an important site, beinga large financial and religious centre and the ruins are very extensive and really magnificent. It is as impressive in its own way as the Acropolis in Athens.
Delos by itself makes Mykonos a necessary stop. Walking through the site it feels like you are back in time. In Delos you will see the Temple of Apollo, the Delian Lions, Cleopatra's House, the Sacred Way, the Sacred Lake and the ancient theatre among other sights. SANTORINI or THIRA

SANTORINI:One of the most impressive islands in Greece. Its shape, reminding of a horse shoe is a result of the explosion of the volcano which happened 3500 years ago. Three quarters of the original island sank after a tremendous explosion that destroyed the fine Minoic civilization, remainders of which we still admire at the end of the island, the Akrotiri. The western part of the island is well known all over the world. Centuries ago it was given the name Caldera, because the water at this point was very hot, due to the volcanic energy. SANTORINI, 76km with 6500 people with its wild beauty is considered unique all over the world. The capital, called Fira, is built amphitheatrically on top of the sunken Caldera. Imerovigli, Kamari and Oia are the most wellknown
settlements of Santorini. The island's beaches, many with black sand and black pebbles, are found on the east side of the island.
