NAFPLION:
Called by
the Venetians "Napoli di Romania" is
still one of the most attractive towns in Greece.
It is a place that you are never tired visiting.
Nafplion was the first capital of Greece after
the liberation in 1823. The first King of Greece,
King Otto disembarked here and remained in
Nafplion till the government was removed to
Athens in 1834. The strong fortress of Palamidi
(705ft and 880 steps high) stands on the summit
of a lofty and almost inaccessible rock
commanding the whole of the argolis area.
