Following the steps of St. Paul
7 Days / 6 nights
Day 1. Arrival at Thessaloniki and transfer to Kavala (Neapolis). Dinner and overnight.
Day 2. Today we visit the place where Apostle Paul established the first Christian church in Europe, the city of Philippi. Here he met Lydia, the first convert to Christianity on European soil. We shall visit the river where Lydia was baptised, the ancient forum and the jail where Paul and Silas were kept. Here as they were praising God, they were miraculously freed and the jailer believed and was baptized. Before lunch we start our way back to Thessaloniki. Short sightseeing of the city before dinner and overnight.
Day 3 Morning visit of the archaeological museum of Thessaloniki before continuing to Berea. Paul came here and preached. After a short visit at Vergina we finish our day at Kalambaka and Meteora, the huge grey rocks with the monasteries. Overnight and dinner in Kalambaka.
Day 4. Early morning visit two of the Byzantine monasteries standing there for more than a thousand years. The setting is breathtakingly beautiful and the experience unforgetable.Lunch time we drive south to Athens. Overnight in Athens.
Day 5. Morning walking tour to the ancient city of Athens, visiting the Hill of the Acropolis with the Parthenon etc. and the rock of Areios Pagus where Paul in Greek preached to the Athenian philosophers about the "uknown God". Afternoon is free and early evening we work the way up to the Lycabettus Hill for a splendid view of Athens.
Day 6. We start our trip driving south of Athens to Corinth. After a stop at Corinth canal we visit the ancient city of Corinth where Paul lived and preached for two years. The 1st and 2nd epistles now part of the New Testament were sent to this local church. We visit the small port of ancient Corinth, mentioned in Paul's letter to the Christians at Rome sent to them by Phoebe and because this was the place Paul sailed later to Ephesus. Return to Athens early afternoon.
Day 7. Transfer to the airport for departure.
